Skribe's 2015 PC Gaming Build

Recommended Posts

I could use some feedback. My budget is $1k. I don't need PSU or peripherals. Thoughts?

I have built 1 PC in my lifetime and that was 6-7 years ago so this will be a re-learning experience for me. Hopefully it goes smoothly. Once I build I'm not sure how to add the OS (find my old Win 7 disc and start from scratch I am assuming, but I'd like to add my old 500gb HDD that has lots of pictures and stuff. It has win7 loaded on that drive too though.)

You should be fine for gaming with that setup. I have the Hyper 212 EVO on two other machines I've built and its a fine HS for what you need it to do, way better than stock. If you add that 500GB as a secondary drive it doesn't matter if windows is loaded on it. Just make sure you don't make it the #1 drive, the machine will try to boot off it. You can delete those windows folders later if you want. Gran your serial for that OS before you blow it up though. You can grab it from a tool like https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/

For another $84 Bucks you can get a better CPU

For example,

You chose this CPU

$214.00

You are gonna get back $ 40 Bucks in mail in rebates as per your order

Apply that 40 bucks to this CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117369

And you extra cost will be another $84 Dollars that will go a long way.

You can always upgrade Video, Memory cards, PSU etc

But you cannot upgrade CPU without having to change OS or call MS and go thru a day of hell on the phone with them !!!

Agree with what FDNY said. 40 bucks is absolutely worth it. The cooler Burner mentioned is a great cooler. Got it for my sons build and it does a great job. I would, however, recommend you to go with the 500GB SSD or get two 250GB. One for Windows and one for the games you want to load faster.
